Reading of Metamorphosis

I've always heard Kafka used in describing the unusual but had not previously experienced his work.  This reading brought a picture of story content that was bizarre, and cruel, not just unusual or thought provoking.  This was a story out of a page even beyond what I would call a trip from The Twilight Zone.  I did not like the story but I respect the creativity of someone who could create such a work.  It brought up images one could associate with in regard to many social issues such as care for the infirmed and their conditions, inter-family dynamics, feelings of loss in status, and prosperity and love, death and loss.  It makes me wonder more about the author which I will look into at a later time.  We all bring different experiences to all that we do in life that influence our personal journey in life.  I hope mine will not be influenced by the bitter side of life but one not only influenced by survival but compassion.
